Interview Done By Mike Wilkerson

MW: Please introduce yourself?

A-MM: Hi, I’m Anne-Marie Mueschke (that’s pronounced ‘Music’ if you’re wondering). I play Annie on Siberia.

MW: How did you get cast for Siberia on NBC?

A-MM: I was living in L.A. at the time, going on auditions, working at a day job to make ends meet, and I saw a posting for a new television series on an audition website. The whole thing was very mysterious. The title was different, there were different character names, and almost no plot was given. Looking back I had no idea what I was in for. I was called in to audition, was told to show up in costume as a goth punk chick à la Lisbeth Salander, and I did just that. I saw other girls waiting to go in who had worn some eyeliner or converses, and I looked down at myself–in full regalia, i mean I dyed my hair and bought the nose ring–and I kinda just thought, I got this.

MW: Please tell my readers what Siberia is about?

A-MM: Siberia is a one hour drama series, seen through the framework of a reality tv show. It’s a fictional story about 16 strangers who for different reasons sign up with the intention of winning 500,000 from a show, but then as the show breaks down, it’s about each person’s quest for survival.

MW: Is it reality or not so reality?

A-MM: Definitely not reality. I like to say the show is like “Lost” if it were filmed like “The Office.” We do improvise a lot of lines, especially in the earlier episodes, but the plot is totally out of our hands (and quite outlandish at times) and our characters are very different from ourselves. Well, some more than others.

MW: What has been your favorite episode so far?

A-MM: I loved 105. I think it keeps getting better and better! The more time in the episode that we get to flesh out the characters, the more an audience can connect with them and decide what they think of them.

MW: Of your cast mates who have you liked working with the most?

A-MM: Oh, that’s a hard one. We really became like a family. I feel closest to those of the cast who I filmed the longest with. Of course, I shouldn’t say who these people are since it’ll lead people to guess who stays and who goes!

MW: Who can you just not stand?

A-MM: Haha, whose character you mean? Miljan, Sam, and Esther probably irked my character the most, but as their actual selves are some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met.

MW: What else can you tell me about Siberia?

A-MM: There is so much coming, that even the “Siberia” theorists will be surprised.

MW: What else do you do in your normal life?

A-MM: Well, my character is an artist, and that actually came from me. I draw and paint among other things, so every time you see me drawing in the show, I’m really doing it. I carried around that sketchbook 24/7 and it is full of “Siberia” memories for me.

MW: What is next after Siberia?

A-MM: “Siberia” has opened some doors for me that weren’t available before. I’m auditioning a lot and hopefully I can announce my next project soon!

MW: How can fans reach out to you?

A-MM: I’m on twitter @anmarielismusic, and I love talking to the fans, especially those who have questions or comments about the show. My acting page on Facebook is also good. I run it myself so I see everything from wall posts to messages.

MW: Are you planning to do appearances?

A-MM: I would love to, though I’m not sure if anything is officially planned at the moment.

MW: What would you like to say in closing?

A-MM: I’d like to thank the fans for their support and their intelligent feedback. It means so much us. And thank you for asking me to share about my experience. It’s a pleasure.
