Tessek “Squid Head” Ep. VI

Super Megafest

Gerald Home was the lone Star Wars guest at Super Megafest 2009.  This was the first time I really talked to any of the actors for an extended period of time, as there was really no line to speak of and Mr. Home enjoyed talking about his work on Return of the Jedi.  My collecting would change greatly after this show, as this was the last one I attended before going to Star Wars Celebration VI, which would expand my collection from a hand full to dozens of Star Wars autographs.

New England Fan Experience

New England Fan Experience was happening the same day as Super Megafest 2008.  After finishing up the morning at SMF my friends and I drove to Cambridge, MA for this event to get Daniel Logan’s autograph.  It was a small show, but a lot of fun.  There was plenty of time to talk with Daniel as the lines were not very long (I don’t believe there was a line actually.)  This was the first convention I went to that wasn’t Super Megafest.

Super Megafest

This was my third Super Megafest and for the second year in a row they featured two Star Wars guests.  This time around it was Anthony Forrest and Garrick Hagon.  My interaction with Mr. Hagon was brief, but he was quite friendly.  In 2008 I would not have imagined that in four years I would sharing a car ride with him in England.  Super Megafest 2008 was a fun event, but that was not the only event that day.  My friends and I left Framingham and traveled to Cambridge to meet another actor from the GFFA…

Stormtrooper, A New Hope

Super Megafest

This was my third Super Megafest, and at this point I knew it would be a yearly event for me.  Anthony Forrest played the stormtrooper from the infamous “These aren’t the droids you’re looking for” scene in A New Hope.  He also played Luke’s friend Fixer on Tatooine, although these scenes were cut from the final version of the film.  Years later I would share a car ride with him from Manchester Piccadilly to Burnley, but more on that later…

Ray Park

2007

Super Megafest

Super Megafest 2007 was a great show.  In addition to Jeremy Bulloch, Darth Maul himself, Ray Park was in attendance.  He was very busy signing at this show, so my interaction with him was quite brief.  Because this was only my second show I think I didn’t realize what a great opportunity it was to meet Ray Park, because since this show, I have only seen him listed as attending conventions a handful of times.

Super Megafest

Here is my second in-person autograph, Jeremy Bulloch, obtained at Super Megafest 2007 in Framingham, Massachusetts.  Prior to this I had ordered an autograph from Mr. Bulloch’s website of him as Boba Fett, so I chose to have him sign a photo of him portraying Captain Colton from Revenge of the Sith.  He joked, saying “Someone actually what’s a photo of my face?”  I have had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Bulloch several times since this show, and he is consistently one of the nicest actors on the autograph circuit.  He has always been very warm and social when I have talked to him at shows.  I didn’t realize chatting with the actors was an option before talking to Mr. Bulloch at this show, so it was certainly a big day for me.

Super Megafest

This is the autograph that started it all!  Here is my first in-person Star Wars autograph,  the one and only Billy Dee Williams, who played Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. These photos were taken on November 22, 2006   at an event called Super Megafest, which occurs the weekend before Thanksgiving each year at the Sheraton in Framingham, Massachusetts, which is just about twenty miles west of Boston.
