Interview Done By Mike Wilkerson

MW: Please introduce yourself?

DM: I am Dark Morte.

MW: When did you get into modeling?
DM: I’ve always wanted to model, from a young teen but never really had the self confidence to go for it despite being told to pursue it by lots of people including some professional photographers and being approached by a model scout. I fell into it by accident a few years ago when I joined a London based photography group and they asked me to model for them. From there I progressed pretty quickly and have now achieved the paid fashion work I sought after as a teen.

MW: Why did you get into modeling?
DM: With age comes confidence and after modeling for the photography group and receiving positive feedback I decided I should go for it while I’m still relatively young and have my looks. Why – why not, I’ve always wanted to do it, it’s not as glamorous as you may think and can be hard work but it’s worth it for the end results, beautiful images.

MW: What kind of modeling do you do?
DM: I’ve done a lot of artistic shoots, mainly for individual photographers but I’ve done a fair chunk of fashion work too and have now been featured in catalogues, a book and an artist’s calendar. No runway yet, but maybe one day!

MW: What do you think of people calling you a rock chick?
DM: Love it! I portray a range of styles in my work but at heart i’m a pure Goth Rock chick through and through!

MW: Who are 5 of your favorite bands?
DM: Of the minute (and in no particular order) I would say Iron Maiden, Sisters Of Mercy, Motley Crew, Rob Zombie and Fields Of The Nephilim.

MW: What was your favorite rock release?
DM: Hmm that’s a tough one. Can I actually say what my favorite recent metal release is instead? Snake Eyes is the best new power metal band I have heard in a long long time. I have ‘Soul Stealer’ on CD which I purchased after a gig in a small but historical local music pub, it’s pretty amazing. Check them out here www.snakeeyesmusic.com

MW: What was your favorite concert? And where was it?
DM: The Fields Of The Nephilim at the O2 Shepards Bush in London – Halloween 2012. I’ve been waiting to see them for years! It was an absolutely excellent gig.

MW: What rock star would you love to meet?
DM: Hmm, there are lots but I’ll go for Ozzy as he seems like a complete character and I think the experience would be unforgettable!

MW: Have you ever done a rock video? Who was it? (send link)
DM: Yes I have, well kind of, for my band X-KiN. We aren’t exactly rock more synth but check out the video – https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VY4UzTUXDPU

MW: How is the rock scene where you are? And where is it?
DM: I have a small local rock pub which has very good cover bands on most Saturdays. However for originals gigs or just DJ’d events and dedicated pubs going more centrally within London is the best bet. Rock in definitely not dead in London!

MW: What would you like to say in closing?
DM: In closing I would like to say thank you for asking me to take part in this interview for your website and watch this space – more rock photos coming soon!
