Interview Done By Mike Wilkerson
MW: Please introduce yourself?
TVJ: hello hello! I play guitar and I sing. I like coffee and I live close to the woods. Almost in it.
MW: Tell me about the first time playing live?
TVJ: our first live show was right after we released empress rising. It was nervous as it should be. We had been a band for a year but never played live. But everything fell into place and we crushed everyone there.
MW: How did the name Monolord come about?
TVJ: it is actually a friend who is deaf on one ear. He is the original Monolord. We named our band after him. He is really fat and annoying. Just like Cartman.
MW: Where is Monolord from?
TVJ: Sweden and around Gothenburg.
MW: Who are your influences?
TVJ: everything from Conan to Lynyrd Skynyrd to ACDC to First aid kit to Goatsnake to sci-fi movies to psychrock.
MW: Tell me about the following releases:
Empress Rising: this was recorded pretty fast and we had no intention of it being released. But we felt there was something there. A humongous record. I contacted riding easy records and The big boss Daniel said: Let’s do this!
Vænir: Also a pretty fast recording but more as a band this time. Some of the songs where played live before recording and that is good for a song to evolve that way.
MW: How many releases have been released as vinyl? Are they still available?
TVJ: both albums are available on vinyl and CD. Empress rising also as a cassette. If you’re in the U.S. Go to Riding Easy webpage. If in eu try Monolord.com
MW: What shows does Monolord having coming up for the rest of 2015?
TVJ: we are supporting windhand and danava in the U.S in October/November, a bunch of festivals and gigs coming up before that. A hectic 2015 it has been!
MW: How can Monolord fans reach out to you to say Hi or purchase something?
TVJ: they can mail us on Facebook, they can buy us coffee when we’re playing live and they can check out the store at Monolord.com.
MW: What would you like to say in closing?
TVJ: thanks! And remember even a bad cup of coffee is a cup of coffee.
